To All Former Mountaineer cross country,track and field and ski athletes:

It is my sad duty to inform all of you that Michelle Chupurdia Jensen passed away in Idaho in November, 2017 of lung cancer despite never having smoked in her life. She was a member of the National Championship X-C team in 1990 and a many time All-American in skiing and in track and cross country. Michelle was a wonderful young women and leaves a husband and 3 children. I talked with her monthly before her death and she exhibited great courage in the face of an incurable illness. I hope that all of you will remember her in your prayers. Here’s a great article on Michelle which appeared in the Idaho paper in April.
